  • COURSE DESCRIPTION

    This course provides participants with an understanding of the hazards associated with confined spaces and the necessary precautions for safe entry and monitoring. 


    Participants will learn about relevant legislation and regulations, as well as best practices for hazard identification, risk assessment, and the selection and use of equipment for safe entry. 


    The course covers the roles and responsibilities of workers, supervisors, and confined space monitors, as well as emergency response procedures. 


    Participants will also learn how to properly test and monitor confined spaces before and during entry, as well as how to effectively communicate and work as a team in confined space environments.

    Building on the foundational knowledge gained in the Educational Awareness course, the Advanced Training program provides participants with a deeper understanding of confined space entry and monitoring.


    Participants will receive hands-on training in the use of advanced monitoring equipment and techniques, as well as advanced rescue procedures. 


    The course covers topics such as atmospheric testing, ventilation techniques, and rescue planning. Participants will also learn how to manage complex confined space entry operations, including coordination with other workers and emergency responders. 


    By completing this course, participants will be better prepared to identify and mitigate hazards in confined spaces, ensuring the safety of themselves and their colleagues.

  • Who should attend this course?

    This course is essential for workers, supervisors, and managers who may need to enter or oversee work in confined spaces. 


    It is also recommended for members of Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC) and anyone responsible for the safety of workers in confined spaces.

  • What's included in the In-person training?

    To provide a comprehensive practical hands-on learning experience for our participants. We provide all the necessary equipment, including:

    • IPAD devices containing the learning material
    • Respirators
    • Safety harnesses 
    • Monitoring Equipment
    • Coveralls
    • Gloves
    • A simulated  environment

  • What should participants bring to an In-person training?

     

    • Lunch, snacks, etc.
    • Comfortable clothes.
    • Knee pads
    • Note taking tools.
  • What's needed for attending a virtual class?


    • A high-speed & stable internet connection.
    • A computer or tablet device. 
    • A functioning camera & microphone (turned on at all times)
  • What is the validity of the certificates of completion?

    Certificates of completion are valid for three years.

    The minimum class size for private bookings is 10 participants

  • Can I book a private training session with less than 10 participants?

    Yes, you can book a fall protection and working from heights training session with less than 10 participants. However, you will be charged for 10 students in total.

  • Can I transfer my educational awareness certificate to a different employer?

    Yes!  However, a job specific and site specific refresher training is required with each employer anyways!  

  • What is a confined space?

    A confined space is a space that is large enough for a worker to enter, has limited or restricted means of entry or exit, and is not designed for continuous occupancy.

  • Why is training on confined spaces important?

    Training on confined spaces is crucial to ensure workers understand the hazards associated with confined spaces and how to safely enter, work, and exit these spaces to prevent accidents and injuries.

  • How often do I need to renew my certification and training?

    Confined Spaces education and training must be renewed every three years, or sooner if there are changes to the regulations or if a worker's duties change.
